Postural evaluation and exercises

Posture

Posture is the window into your spine.  “Posture affects and moderated every physiologic function from breathing to hormonal production.  Spinal pain, headaches, mood, blood pressure, pulse and lung capacity are among the functions most easily influenced by posture.”  (AJPM 1994; 4:36-39)

By having abnormal posture, you will, in time have abnormal function with tissues, glands, and organs.  Many people believe hat this is a precursor to disease in the body.  Abnormal posture affects the immune systems by lowering its function, thus causing our bodies to be weakened.  This will ultimately lead to disease processes in our body.  We say that “structure dictates function.”  We strive for perfect posture (structure) which leads to perfect health (function).  This is why everyone should have their posture checked starting at an early age by a chiropractor in order to prevent any problems later in life.
